Russia may buy car parts for Kamaz, AvtoVAZ in Serbia
BELGRADE, Jan 11 (PRIME) -- Russia is considering buying car parts for its leading truck manufacturer Kamaz and top car maker AvtoVAZ in Serbia instead of Turkey, relations with which have soured, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told reporters on Monday.
“These car parts have been produced in Turkey up until now. We believe that the Serbian industry can produce them. It will also bring significant financial dividends for the Serbian economy,” he said.
Russia believes that Serbia may become its serious partner, the official said.
The Russian–Turkish relations will not develop until Turkey meets Russian requirements, Rogozin said.
The relations between the countries deteriorated after Turkey downed Russia’s Su-24 bomber in November. Moscow wanted Ankara to pay compensation, but Ankara refused.
After that Russia imposed a range of sanctions against the country, barring imports of fruit, vegetables and some other kinds of food, introducing visas and employment limits for Turks and banning charter flights.
